Product showcase:
Week 14 - Tuesday (26/11/2019)
9.30am - 3pm at the Grand Hall
We had a briefing with the Bioscience students and Event Management students regarding the InnoFest in Taylor's University. Arrangement of booth will be 7.30 am to 9.30 am.
Confirmation of Merchandises:
Earphones, colouring book, colouring pencils, stamp and stickers.
Week 12
This week we had to begin the design and printing process for the merchandises. It was important to get them approved quickly so that we can print and cut by the time of the InnoFest day which is on the 26th November. It was crucial that the packaging materials were done during that time otherwise the table at the booth would be empty.
Above is the design for the colouring book. The cover of the outside and colourful inside and the six different colouring card designs. It is fun to colour and proven to be a good mood lifter.
Above are the designs for the stickers that will be placed on separate A5 sized glossy pages and wrapped together with a band that says 'Sticking to good vibes'.
Week 13
I have managed to print all the necessary merchandises. The stamp mold (which is the synyo logo) had to be sent to the printers so that they may develop the stamp. Same goes to the stickers. It required time to be printed and cut by the printers on glossy sticker paper.

Feedback
Week 11
Mr Shamsul said the new logo looks better and easier to spell it out as compared from the previous version. He asked to try out different variation of colours. According to the Bioscience students, Synyo is not a recovery drink or energy drink rather more of 'making you feel good again'. So decided on positioning it as 'Healthy Indulgence'. So it would be a Happy and Healthy drink. It does not have to relate to sports directly instead more of boosting your energy at work or when you're feeling down like a mood lifter - feel good vibes.
Week 12
We proposed a list of merchandises for the product. Mr Shamsul rejected button badges, tea towels, book marks, a 2020 mini Calendar, key chain and patches. However he approved of earphones and cap. I proposed colour pencils and a colouring book as well as replacements and he agreed to them. He advised that the merchandises need to reflect the direction of the product which is feel good vibes.
Week 13
Mr Shamsul advised to print a mock up before the actual one to prevent typo errors. He also asked to print extra and to remove the outlines.

Reflection
Experiences
It was an interesting experience to have worked with the Bioscience students. The cross school collaboration is something new to me and I believe this is the future that awaits all those who enter the design field. We are meant to collaborate with other industries and create innovative design solutions to everyday products and problems. The experience thought me how to function as a group and be a part of something bigger which is the Taylor's InnoFest 2019. I enjoyed creating the packaging and designs in this class. Although it has consumed too much of money. I hope in the future the school will be able to subsidize in some way.
Observations
Working in a pair was not as I expected. Although it was a good learning experience. Everyone seemed to have developed good work with each other and produced work worthy of praise from the other schools which made our lecturer proud of us.
Findings
The purposes of Packaging can go beyond just aesthetics and basic functions. There is as much of functionality that goes into it. I am glad to have had this module to experiment different packaging layouts and tinker with the laser cut machine (which is my favorite part). I look forward to using the laser cut machine for more projects to come.
