Lectures
Lecture 3 : Miller's Law (Chunking)
Week 03 - 21.01.2020
Information can be chunked into groups and further chunked into smaller groups. Consider using a narrative to help make the transfer of information easier and more engaging.
Week 03 - 22.01.2020
Below is our group presentation for FLIP 3. I wanted to explain how the idea of Chunking came from how our brain itself processes information and in turn allows us to store these information into memory.
Lecture 4 : Different Types of Infographics and Tools
Week 04 - 28.01.2020
We are tasked with Flip 4 and 5 to find the right style to engage and communicate information quickly and clearly.
Week 07 - 18.02.2020
Below is our groups presentation for Flip 4 and Flip 5.
Project 1
Infographics poster : A Recipe
The project is an individual one that is followed by an animation of it. Use as little words as possible. Due on week 6. I choose the Pho Ga recipe, a staple Vietnamese chicken noodle soup which is also a personal favourite of mine.
I started out the illustration process by creating vectors of the main elements of the poster.

Fig 1.1: Firstly I chose a traditional patterned Vietnamese bowl to hold the Pho Ga. Warping the pattern around the bowl was done with a combination of the warp tool and gradient tool.

Fig 1.2: I have used picture guides to help me vector illustrate all the equipment from scratch.

Fig 1.3: Creating the cotton pouch to store the spices was a challenge because of the lack of colour different for the overall pouch.

Fig 1.4: Another minor challenge was in creating the illustration for the spices. Because they are tiny and are mostly stuffed into the pouch, getting their details more visible took awhile.

Fig 1.5: I re-branded the condiments a little to prevent any issues with using the exact same bottle.

Fig 1.7: The pointer further shows what ingredients are used. For example, the pointer to the pouch shows the spices that is used within it.
The Pouch and the spoon combined looks like a man's head, a side profile with a very long nose. Please change that. But overall it looks fine. The division between the illustration and information needs to be done.

Fig 1.9: This is the final poster design for the Pho Ga Recipe. Source of the recipe can be seen at the grey bar at the bottom of the poster.
Project 2
Infographics Animation : Pho Ga Recipe
The project is an individual one as well that is a continuation of Project 1. The task is to create an animation of the infographic poster. I chose to create and adaptation of my poster into a tutorial video.

Fig 2.1: While animating, I ensured each scene was pre-composed so that the multiple layers did not cause much confusion. Also, to allow me to review each scene before carrying on to the next.
Above shows the first section, which is the title section that was animated for the video. Below shows the Boiling and Sieving section done together in one file.
Finally below shows the final outcome of the Pho Recipe Animation video.
