Feedback

Week 7 (26/5)
My direction seems clear to use illustrations to help communicate the brand which is also based on 4 main pillars which is good to have in order to guide the art direction and have the designs aligned. I will need to explore the social media aspect of the festival and how intend to strategize the content for it. Also, pending the entrance design, signages, website ui, map design, staff id, tshirt and goodie bag design. I will need to complete the other illustrations for the series and plan the composition of the poster. Furthermore, I will need to explore other ways to design the logo.

Week 8 (03/6)
Social media still pending. Consider splitting it to preview, countdown, features and post event postings. The illustrations look good but now its time to execute it and see how it turns out with colour. Also, digitize the logo and graphics. Everything needs to be visualised now.

Week 9 (09/6)
The illustration in colour looks good. I may continue on to finishing the other 2 poster illustrations. Next stage would be in the composition of the poster and perhaps consider having collage of real images inside cause right now the illustration looks to target the younger segment. The realistic objects would be to target the older group. For the poster background, consider real images such as raw textures, wood or branches to hint environment. Logo also looks fine. The details however can be improved. The diagonal line of the 'N' looks too heavy, more weight for the stokes that are extended, spacing between the letters is too tight and bring out the hidden tree within the logo with colour perhaps.

Reflection

During this project, I managed to develop the main aspects of the RWMF brand. It was fun to do up the sketches and illustration for the brand but it also caused me to spend too much time on it which is lack of good time judgment on my side. Perhaps I could have started it earlier or simplified the illustrations slightly. Regardless, they needed to be done by the deadline. Constructing the moodboard was fairly interesting as well as I drew upon the natural surroundings of the festival and instilled it into the new brand identity. I am looking forward to the full blown execution stage.

Brand Identity Process

I wanted to get a more strategic outlook or framework when approaching the foundation and building of the brand identity. Based on the chapter on brand identity process, the process is divided into 5 stages: conducting research, clarifying strategy, designing identity, creating touchpoints and managing assets. I suppose once we enter Project 3, that would be the designing identity stage of the process.
